摘要

The death of Russians South Stream pipeline in December came as a shock, not least to the transit countries along its route in Central and southeastern Europe. The pipe would have moved Russian gas under the Black Sea to Bulgaria and then through Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia to Austria, and they had been counting on billions of dollars in Russian investment in related infrastructure projects, as well as transit fees and a guaranteed source of gas for decades.
