China Hands Big Role to LNG

China's National Energy Administration (NEA) has for the first time made promotion of natural gas vehicles (NGV) an official priority for the world's biggest energy consumer. In a new gas use policy, it also stresses that development will be based on LNG — rather than pipeline gas — as Beijing plans for annual consumption of 230 billion cubic meters (22 billion cubic feet per day) by 2015, a massive increase on last year's 130 Bcrn.
