RWE-Dea Expanding

Big German utility RWE's upstream division is forging ahead with gas developments in the North Sea and Egypt, but has been unable to advance its Libyan and Algerian projects in recent months. The company is hopeful that will soon change, and that it will also be successful in expanding into new areas where LNG exports might develop. RWE-Dea chief Thomas Rappuhn told reporters last week that a definitive production-sharing deal for the Repsol YPF-operated Reggane North license in Algeria is "just ahead ... It's lasted a long time, but we're positive we will have that agreement." The problem is that Rappuhn said much the same thing 16 months ago, predicting agreement in mid-2010.
