Pent-Up Gas, LNG Capacity

The rise in US gas prices over the last week to near $5 per million Btu belies some worrisome indicators ahead for market bulls (p6). Waves of existing, new and pent-up US shale gas and global LNG are apparently poised to hit this winter. The LNG wave, in particular, has proved illusive so far (WGI Jul.29,pl). But it's unclear that producers can or will hold off much longer. And then there's the LNG already being held in floating storage or in tanks at import terminals with re-export capability - awaiting a winter price surge it could easily help derail.
