What a difference a year that includes two warmer-than-normal winters can make in the North American gas market. In December 2005,in the wake of the massive supply shut-ins in the Gulf of Mexico and onshore Gulf Coast that fol- lowed Hurricanes Katrina and Rita,US gas prices topped 15 per million Btu (90 per barrel of oil equivalent).
