摘要

Still uncomfortably reliant on Russia for most of its gas imports, Poland is making conceited efforts to diversify supply as a bargaining tool in future talks with its former Soviet master, building an LNG terminal with capacity of 5 billion cubic meters per year (3.6 million tons per year of LNG) at Swinoujscie and an ever expanding patchwork of pipelines. Poland's main gas importer and Gazprom's principal client, PGNIG, which imported 88% of its gas from Russia in 2015, has been in talks with the gas giant since 2014 to tweak a deal agreed in 2012. The build-out of new infrastructure might give the state-owned firm a marginal upper hand in those talks, but Poland's real goal is to obtain leverage in negotiations over its 10 Bcm/yr (970 million cubic foot per day) Yamal contract with Gazprom ahead of expiry in 2022.
