摘要

Libyan gas development remains a slow-motion affair on the ground, despite authorities' oft-stated contention that reserves could reach 100 trillion cubic feet (2.8 trillion cubic meters), up from an estimated 60 Tcf now, on proved reserves of 54.6 Tcf. Indeed Hassan Ali Fares, general manager for exploration and reservoir engineering for the Mellitah joint venture of state National Oil Corp. (NOC) and Italy's Eni, told a recent North Africa conference in Vienna organized by The Energy Exchange, that no specific development plans are in place to support a push to 100 Tcf. Mellitah manages the West Libya Gas project.
