Novatek's Limited Yamal LNG Role

Many were taken by surprise by word that Novatek, Russia's top independent gas producer, is set to acquire control over the massive Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye (South Tambei) field, one of Russia's biggest gas deposits. The field is on the Yamal Peninsula in northwestern Siberia and has been named by Gazprom as a key deposit for its LNG export scheme on the peninsula (WGI Jun.18,p5).
