Chinese state Sinopec has downgraded reserves at the Puguang gas field in the south-central province of Sichuan following further technical appraisals. Production targets for the high-profile project — given a year ago as an initial 10 billion cubic meters per year (975 million cubic feet per day), rising to 15 Bcm/yr — apparently remain in tact, at least for now (WGI Apr.l8,p3). Sinopec Chairman Su Shulin said in announcing the company's annual results Monday that Puguang had geological reserves of not quite 274 Bcm (9.67 trillion cubic feet), while recoverable reserves totaled 99.3 Bcm (3.5 Tcf).
