China Delivers LNG Import Shock

China's LNG imports fell in 2015 for the first time since imports began in 2006, customs data show, underscoring the extent to which low oil prices and the continued slowing of the country's giant economy are putting the brakes on gas demand growth. LNG imports dropped around 1% year-on-year to 19.65 million tons, while growth in pipeline imports slowed to 7.2%, with a total of 24.68 million tons equivalent imported.
