Growing uncertainty over gas demand forecasts is combining with natural and manmade problems to sap progress in China's efforts to emulate the US shale gas revolution. Beijing has just slashed its national target for shale gas production to 30 billion cubic meters per year (2.9 billion cubic feet per day) by 2020 from the 60 Bcrn-100 Bcm/yr it set two years ago (WGI Apr.25'12).
