India's LNG imports may leap by around a quarter over the next 12 months to a record 17 million tons as existing buyers expand regasiflcation capacity. By 2017, the government estimates that annual import capacity could increase to 50 million tons from 13.6 million tons at the end of 2012 as new players from GDF Suez to BP jump in, building more terminals to tap surging demand from power and fertilizer plants (WGI Jan.23'13).
