IEA Proposes Coal Plant Closures in Stopgap Climate Measures

With the world moving further away from its target of limiting the global temperature rise to 2°C, the International Energy Agency (IEA) says governments must adopt four stopgap energy policy measures that "keep the door open" to the target without damaging growth. It wants leaders to take action on cracking down on the worst coal-fired power stations, halving methane emissions from the oil and gas industry, improving energy efficiency and cutting fossil fuel subsidies.
