摘要

Paris - An ongoing judicial investigation into accusations that one of Europe's leading restaurant chains violated the recently-ended embargo on British beef during the late 1990s has demonstrated that the so-called 'Mad Cow' crisis remains very muchalive for authorities and consumers alike. The Buffalo Grill scandal broke on December 18, when French consumers learned that a Paris-based magistrate was questioning top executives of the pan-European steak-house chain over allegations that they had knowingly imported British beef over the 1996-2000 period, at the height of Europe's Mad Cow crisis.
