EBERRY FRUIT on last year's wood and blueberry bushes require annual pruning to maintain vigorous growth. If pruning is neglected, the bush has many older canes and little new growth. In renovation, growers remove all the canes by grinding off the plant in the spring. It requires sacrificing one or two years of production.The blueberry bush responds by growing many new shoots. Dozens of new shoots emerge and grow quickly to form a dense clump of new shoots.
