American/Western Fruit Grower presents California's largest almond, pistachio, and walnut growing operations. IT TAKES both commitment and dedication to become a leader in your industry. You'll find some examples of this hard work in the 2007 Top NutGrowers report. The list is ranked according to 2006 acreage for almonds, walnuts, and pistachios grown in California, and owned or leased by one company that is responsible for maintaining it. As you can see by the list on the next page, nut acreage inCalifornia is on the rise. Over half of the companies on the list increased their nut acreage in 2006 from the previous year, some by big numbers. Only four of the companies reported lower nut acreage, and in most of these cases, the decline in nut acreage was offset by plantings of other crops such as winegrapes.
