ARE you ready for the drought? No, I haven't heard anything you haven't. No crystal ball here, just a healthy respect for Mother Nature and Father Time. Eventually, those folks are going to give us another drought. And if it's anything like the drought that parched the West in the late 1980s and early 1990s, we in agriculture are going to face unprecedented challenges. I was thinking about that most recent prolonged drought the other day because I came across a picture I shot of my then-very pregnant wife in February 1991.1 recall the month clearly because the drought essentially ended just weeks later during what became known as the "March Miracle," when a series of heavy storm systems saved us from what was shaping up to be a very bad summer.
