After more than a year of restrictions on new capital spending, the Western Australian Government has signalled a new commitment to major infrastructure projects in its 2002/03 budget at the same time as it is predicting the biggest development boom in the state's history According to Treasurer Eric Ripper, projects worth 87 billion dollars are currently in the pipeline around the state. "If just a proportion of these come to fruition, WA could enjoy an unprecedented period of economic prosperity;" Ripper said.
