Ertech opts for Hitachi machines

Two new Hitachi excavators are helping leading Western Australian contractor Ertech to further lift its activities on remote civil construction and resources projects at opposite ends of the state. One of the two new machines, an EX450H, is being used by Ertech on the upgrading of the Koolyanobbing to Kalgoorlie railway while the other, an EX350, is on Barrow Island off the north-west coast for oilfield work.The 43.1t operating weight EX450H is the heavy duty version of the popular EX450 excavator. Powered by an Isuzu A-6RB1T turbocharged diesel developing 224kW at 2000rpm, the machine features a 1.82cu.m rock bucket and a strengthened 7m boom and 3.4m arm.Ertech's EX350 machine, being used to construct drilling pads as well as general earthworks on Barrow Island, is powered by an Isuzu B-6SD1T turbocharged engine developing 177kW at 2000rpm. It is fitted with a 1.4cu.m rock bucket, a 6.4m reinforced boom and 3.2m reinforced arm.
