Hitachi Cable Manchester (HCM) is offering a Cat. 6 cable, the Secura~(TM) OSP cable, designed specifically to accommodate Power Over Ethernet (POE) applications that require an outside plant cable. The cable, designed for outdoor aerial, conduit or direct burial applications, has a rugged polyolefin overall jacket and is filled with non-conductive water-blocking gel, a press release said. Available in 1,000-ft reels, the cable allows the user to reach outside cameras without the expense of running electricity or conduit to the camera, it said. The cable's conductors, made of 22-gauge copper, can handle power, video and pan/tilt/zoom requirements for virtually any camera on the market, it said.
