Monitoring and management has played a pivotal in execution of Indira Sagar project one of the ambitious projects of India. The paper highlights the major challenges faced by the project, methodologies adopted to tackle the situations and active participation of monitoring leading to aversion of these venturesome situations. Indira Sagar project is a typical example, which has revived from the abject condition and has established many milestones, which is the result of effective and efficient management.
