The Earthing System as we all know comprises of Ground Mat or Earth Mat and its connection and bonding with the neutral points of Power Transformers etc, Metallic Structures in the Substation and the Transmission Line Towers. The design of such earthing system is eventually the most important parameter to control the earth fault behavior in a power system right from LV System to UHV System. System Neutral earthing is necessary to preserve security of the systems to ensure that voltage on each line conductor is restricted to such a value with respect to the potential of general mass of earth. I would prefer to recognize as Mother Earth highly benevolent to the power system that maintains around Zero Ohmic Resistance irrespective of varying soil characteristics as is consistent with the insulation level of the power system.
