Welded blanks represent an integral structural-technological element of welded components and structures. The division of structures into individual blanks is already carried out in the stage of designing taking into account the need to ensure the highest technological efficiency of production, the efficient use of materials, transport possibilities, simplification of assembling, etc.The development of new and existing welding methods is accompanied by expansion of the possibilities of production of rational welded blanks. For example, the application of automatic submerged-arc welding has made it possible to solve the problem of production of large sheet blanks (panels, plates), in shipbuilding, pipe production and installation of reservoirs. In particular, the coiling of reservoir blanks in the form of panels, welded by submerged-arc welding from sheets with a thickness of 4-12 mm, has resulted in the industrialization of the production and assembling of large-volume of reservoirs.
