Splash and dash: A cool {EUR}100k brings you the hard-charging, rarefied world of the latest 911 Turbo or the R8 V10. So where should you splash your cash?
IF THERE'S ANY truth in the old saying that 'power corrupts', then the new Porsche 911 Turbo could turn you into a seriously dodgy character. Beneath the skin lurks an all-new 3.8-litre engine that blasts out a whopping 493bhp, which is almost enough to make you forget that it looks almost identical to the outgoing model, aside from some LED running lights where the front foglights used to be. There are other important changes, too. Porsche has put the car on a diet, retuned its suspension to make it even more thrilling to drive, and now offers its brilliant PDK semi-automatic gearbox (a £2552 option). The 911 will need to be as good as it seems on paper or Audi's gorgeous R8 could run it ragged. It comes with a sweet-sounding 518bhp 5.2-litre V10 and - like the Porsche - the R8 has four-wheel drive, to help you make the most of all the power. Which will sink and which will swim?
