Lexus IS300h: The Lexus promised superb economy and a relaxing commute. Did it deliver?

NORMALLY, SPENDING WELL over a year with any car gives you plenty of time to form a proper emotional attachment. Yet, despite driving the Lexus IS more than anyone else on the What Car? team, I failed to really connect with it. It's hard to put a finger on exactly why; after all, the Lexus won admiring comments from almost everyone who drove it. Its snug cabin, striking exterior and refined, unobtrusive powertrain should have made it perfect for my 80-mile commute, combined with the promise of more than 60mpg.
