I am a member of an exclusive group who suffer from occasional chronic bouts of SAD - or as the quacks call it, seasonal affective disorder. (That's the winter blues to you and me). Trouble is, the condition does not confine itself to the cold, dark months. For mine is a year-round variety common to all seasoned hacks. It's sparked by frequent, unwelcome encounters with brain-dead public relations and marketing freaks struggling to convince me that their clients are abput to save the universe, or with pushy supermarket executives who insist that they run benevolent institutions for all mankind, rather than profit hungry monoliths designed to make dollops of dosh for their demanding shareholders.
