摘要

I wasn't sure what I would find in Laos, I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised by all the red tape as it's a communist country. And poor. It reminded me a bit of Vietnam, but even poorer. It has a population of around six million, with one car, seven telephones and eight television sets per thousand head of population Life expectancy is 54 years. There are no exports of note. Despite being land-locked it has naval boats, as well as tanks and military aeroplanes. No doubt that is where some of money goes. Tourism is taking off, with around 350,000 visitors a year. Judging by the queue at immigration they were all there on the same day.
