I have mentioned before that Digby is reluctant to travel with me as I always seem to encounter some technical hitch. When I returned from a recent visit to Aberdeen, the train left bang on time and arrived on time at Edinburgh Haymarket, where I hadto cross to Waverley station to make my connection. But the train stopped in the tunnel because of a late-running train in front. And that meant that as I eventually stepped out onto the platform i had precisely two minutes to get to the London train which, as you would expect, was the furthest platform away.
