摘要

In the present study, tensile behaviour of friction stir welded Al 6061-TiB2P metal matrix composite (MMC) with varying welding parameters viz., tool rotational speed and welding speed was examined. It was found that the percentage elongation of friction stir welded Al MMC with 8% TiB_2 reinforcement decreased with increasing welding speed and tool rotational speed. The yield and ultimate tensile strengths were also affected by the welding parameters. The microstructural observations indicated the breaking up of agglomerated TiB_2 particles and also the effect of heat flow due to stirring in the weld zone contributed to the lower ultimate tensile strength of the weldments.
