The use of multi-robot system in welding process becomes popular due to the development of computer system. Recently, CAD/CAM system has been integrated in combination with multiple robot hardware system development. On going work in CAD/CAM welding system engineering has reduced online teaching time loss. In steel building columns manufacturing, a CAM automatically generates robot motion programs for robots with a dedicated graphical user interface. A CAM applied steel segments fabrication uses motion pattern tables for automatic data generation. Automatic collision avoidance algorithm has been applied to CAD/CAM in Steel bridge fabrication and shipbuilding. Also, the CAD system has been customized to add welding line information on its geometrical database. Genetic Algorithm is being studied for multi-robot motion path optimization.
