Italian based Danieli-Group lead-managed by Danieli Morgardshammar (DMH) signed a contract with Ural Mining & Metallurgical Company (UMMC), Russia for the supply and the installation a new, technological sophisticated mini-mill in the region of Tyumen/Ural for the Metallurgical Plant A. K. Serov. This plant, headquartered in Serov/Sverdlovsk Region was already founded in 1894 and is currently one of the leading high quality steel producers in Russia. A central component of this new plant is the hot rolling mill, which will transform square billets (130 and 150mm~2) of 12 meter in length to round bars in the diameter range from 10.0 to 42.0mm on to the cooling bed. The finishing mill will be a Kocks 3-roll reducing and sizing block (RSB). After completion the plant will produce up to 550,000t/y of high quality special steel with excellent tolerances and optimum mechanical properties, mainly for the building and engineering industry. A future stage of extension will allow the additional production of wire rod as well as bar in coils (BIC).
