Technological Innovations for the KOCKS 3-Roll Reducing and Sizing Block

Now more than ever, a higher automation level is an important aspect for future innovations in bar and wire rod mills. Friedrich KOCKS GmbH & Co. KG developed an automation system to keep the production quality for rolled material on a constantly high level. Based on the deviations measured for the actual rolled bar, correction values are generated either as roll pass or motor speed adjustment for every individual roll stand in the reducing and sizing block (RSB), thus providing adherence to closest tolerances. In combination with a newly developed generation of stands, the automation system has been tested successfully in a rolling mill under production conditions.
