A LONG TIME has passed since we attended the unveiling of the lroc, the concept car which everyone believed was to become the new Scirocco. There are many Volkswagen enthusiasts around the world who want a car that will continue the tradition which originated with the first Scirocco, the second model and then the Corrado, and the new coupe is still eagerly awaited. There is no doubt that the lroc is destined for production, but it is taking a long time. The indications are that, when Dr. Winterkorn took over as chairman of the Volkswagen Group, he wanted major changes to be undertaken, largely to distance the car from anything which Audi might have in the pipeline. I didn't think that there was much about the car which could conflict with anything coming out of IngoLstadt, but I thought that the front end lacked subtlety and, if the delay is going to make it more attractive, all well and good.
