THE ARTICLE ON a Lupo spark plug change in the December 2008 issue reminded me of a similar job I undertook, a few years ago, on my Mk 4 Golf 2.0-litre, model year 2000. I decided to change the spark plugs, as the car seems to prefer a change at 20,000 miles or two years. Also my oil-burning problems were causing the occasional misfire, so I wanted to switch to a more open 'surface gap' design of plug.
