THE INTRODUCTION OF THE GOLF ESTATE EARLIER THIS SUMMER PROVIDES A WELCOME ADDITION TO THE RANGE'. WE NEVER EXPECTED to be road-testing a Golf 5 Estate. Indeed, at the launch of the new Golf, back in 2003, it was made clear that there were no plans for an estate version. At that time it was considered unnecessary in the light of other models, like the Touran and Golf Plus, which could fulfill the dual role of family runarounds and company workhorses.
