Overview of the Eskom and South African new build programme

Eskom is South Africa's major electricity supplier and is wholly owned by the South African government. Eskom generates approximately 95 % of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45 % of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom generates, transmits and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural and residential customers. Eskom also supplies municipalities who in turn redistribute the electricity to businesses and households within their areas.
