Shared Technologies in the Development of the Titan 250 Gas Turbine System

Developed based on Solar's traditional design philosophy of product evolution from proven technologies, the Titan 250 gas turbine and C85 centrifugal gas compressor are the latest additions to an extensive product line. The new gas turbine features similar operating cycle parameters, design approach, and materials as several other models. The new centrifugal gas compressor is a direct aerodynamic-scale of a previous pipeline gas compressor. The 22,4 kW (30,000 HP) ISO rated gas turbine offers best-in-class efficiency and the dry low emissions combustion system continues the trend towards ever-lower NO_x and CO output across a broader operating load range. Additional design considerations were given to the turbine and gas compressor to reduce and minimize maintenance events thereby increasing equipment uptime. Integrated packages are available for electrical generation (50 Hz and 60 Hz), gas compression and mechanical pumping applications. The total installed footprint of these packages is smaller than all comparable units in this class. The package is only 0 15 m higher and 0.30 m wider than previous models yet offer almost 50 % more power. Nearly the entirety of the necessary sub-systems (lube, gas, controls) are integrated and contained within the package. The gas turbine and centrifugal gas compressor have been thoroughly tested in component, sub-system, and full-scale development. The first production package has been shipped to a natural gas transmission station for start-up in late 2009. Several other projects are in the final phases of negotiation for delivery in 2010 and additional orders have already been accepted for shipment in 2011.
