It is widely recognised that the increasing CO_2 concentration in the atmosphere contributes to the climate change. Because of severe consequences of temperature changes there is a strong appeal to reduce anthropogenic CO_2 emissions. One major emission source is the power sector, especially large fossil-fired power plants. Therefore, the intention to separate CO_2 from other flue gas components developed. This technology is well known as carbon capture and storage (CCS). It can be considered as an option to reduce energy related emissions and to stabilise atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations [1].
