Improved boiler operation following an increase in the range of waste handled by the AWG Wuppertal waste incineration plant

The additional incineration of waste with extreme fluctuations in calorific value at the AWG Wuppertal waste incineration power plant led - among other things - to considerable losses in operating result. Sporadic and erratic output fluctuations forced the plant operator to reduce the output of the individual boilers to ensure that the purely hydraulically-controlled turbines are kept within the range of control even in the event of extreme steam flow variations.
