Fuel qualities: the importance of fossil energy sources in view of today's fuel supply

For more than a decade, profound work has been pursued in connection with the required standards regarding the employment of imported coals. This is a small selection from a great number of publications demonstrating the objective of these types of operational tests: analysis of the burning behaviour of coals, determination of criteria numbers for the characterization of coal, practical utilization of imported coals and variables actuating the operation of the steam generator. On a long-term basis, however, the global market appears to be no longer that stable. Therefore, the frequently changing qualities must be taken into consideration when employing imported coals.
