Requirements to be met by ion exchangers in power plants from the operator's point of view

Ion exchangers for water treatment have made a major contribution to the presently customary water and steam qualities. Therefore measurable properties of new and used ion exchangers for the assessment of their operational suitability are indispensible for the user. Especially important is the assessment of ion exchangers for condensate cleaning plants, because in case of a condenser leakage the design quantity of contaminated condensate must with certainty be absorbed in order to maintain the required clean quality of the water steam cycle. The paper presents criteria permitting the assessment of the suitability of new resins and the condition of used resins.
