Quality thinking process in modern power plant design and operation

Quality is what counts in the long run - and it does not need to be expensive. Current requirements of the power plant market have stiffened considerably in comparison with the past. These requirements can be summarized as follows: -- implementation of the latest technology to ensure accurately predictable lowest possible life cycle costs, high efficiencies in all load ranges and high output, -- these objectives must be reached under consideration of specific customer requirements, adapted to local site conditions and with very short lead times, -- the highest possible reliability, availability and flexibility must be combined with a minimum of unplanned outage time and readily predictable maintenance to fulfil the new requirements of liberalized power markets.
