Evaluating turfgrass quality is by no means an exact science. As it stands now, the NTEP results, which are based on Grand Mean scores averaged across three replications at different locations, are the most accurate way to predict how turfgrass cultivars will behave on your course. As with all scientific endeavors, however, we in academia are always looking to refine our evaluation methods to produce even more accuracy than is currently available. That's why several different statistical models arecurrently being tested to see if we can improve on NTEP's accuracy even further in the next five years.
