Advanced batch house technology for float glass-incorporated in the new plant of Saint-Gobain Glass Deutschland in Cologne/Porz

The company Saint-Gobain Glass Germany passed its order to the company Zippe in December 1999 for the turn-key installation of a completely new batch plant in their works in Cologne-Porz. The plant has been successfully commissioned in June 2001 after a preparation and installation period of 9 months. Planning, construction and enigneering have always been carried out in close contact with the customer. By doing this, innovative requests of the costumer have been incorporated in the plant design. The batch plant (picture 1) is installed on a base area of 43 X 13 m~2 and has a total height of about 37 m. This results in an enclosed area of 20.000 m~2. Including the silos about 1.065 t of steel have been used in the plant. 19 steel plate silos are provided for storing the main components of minimum 3 days is guaranteed. In addition there are also 4 silos for factory cullet. In total 11 raw material container scales and additionally 3 cullet container scales are installed. 2 circular tray mixers guarantee a continuous batch production. The capacity of the batch plant is 800 t/16 h.
