In the present study, 273 milk samples from dairy cows which did not receive pharmacological treatment neither feeding with medications during the experiment, were analyzed. On each milk sample, the BRT~(r) inhibitor microbiology test answer, chemicalcomposition (fat, protein, lactose, total solid and solids-not-fat), somatic cell count (SCC) and concentration of the lactoperoxidase system components (LP: lactoperoxidase activity, SCN: thiocyanate, H_2O_2: hydrogen peroxide) were determined in order to study their possible influence on anomalous results. A logistical regression model using a stepwise approach indicated that milk samples with high protein percentage (3.32 g/100g) and high H_2O_2 concentrations (4.48 mg/ml) are the cause of positive false results, in comparison with the negative samples that presented lower levels of proteins (3.27 g/100g) and [H_2O_2] (2.23 mg/ml).
