For a landscaper wanting to get into the playground construction business, it must look like a quagmire. Besides the bewildering range of styles and equipment, there's an overwhelming array of safety and design guidelines, as well as, in some states,licensing. Yet, it's a fun business, constructing playgrounds for kids. One of the modern pioneers in the industry, Curtis Stoddard, has to have stacks of reference books for standards and guidelines, but he's still installing playgrounds after 20 yearsin the business.
