In the practice of non-ferrous meta! flotation, increasing process selectivity has been strongly linked to direct pyrite depression or to preventing its flotation with highly selective collectors. This connection led to direct interest in the specificity of the catalytic action of pyrite on the MIG-4E reagent (ethynylvinylbutylester C_4H_9-O-CH = CH-C ident to CH). It was shown earlier [1, 2] that MIG-4E was found to be an effective supplementary collector in the flotation of polymetallic ores, providing an increased recovery of sulfides of copper, bismuth, lead, molybdenum and precious metals, without intensifying the flotation of pyrite under specific conditions. Research into the laws governing the effect of MIG-4E established that optimum conditions for the separation of non-ferrous metal sulfides and metallic silver from pyruite are concentrations of 10-13 mg/l MIG-4E and a pH of 7+8 (Fig. 1, a and 2,a).
