An 8-year-old, 8-lb, 3'A-oz, spayed domestic short-haired cat (Figure 1) presented with a history of anorexia and severe vomiting of 4 days' duration. The cat had been well cared for, lived strictly indoors, and did not share the household with any other animals. The cat's normal diet had primarily consisted of canned pet foods available in grocery stores, but recently the owner had been tempting the cat with a variety of tasty foods with no success. The cat was not current on vaccinations but had been vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies when she was younger.
