Endoscopic removal of foreign bodies can resolve a patient's clinical signs of stress or pain. A thorough physical examination is invaluable to assess which areas should be examined by endoscopy. It is also important to address a patient's clinical signs, not just what appears on radiographs. A 1-year-old, 15 1/2-kg, spayed Brittany had been evaluated in the morning by a general practitioner for vomiting and coughing of 12 hours duration. The owner indicated she had been sewing next to the dog as itchewed on a toy the previous night but was uncertain whether the dog had ingested a needle or any thread.
