The latest instalment in Constantine Biller's series considers the most recent deals taking place in the valves industry around the world. Mergers and acquisitions have continued unabated into 2013 with large corporate players seeking out growth by way acquisitions. In this vein, Curtiss-Wright Corp has acquired Phonix Holding GmbH for $ 106 m. Phonix is a German designer and manufacturer of high performance, severe-service valves and valve systems, as well as a provider of related support services for the global chemicals, petrochemicals and power industries. Curtiss-Wright will integrate Phonix into its Flow Control division where it will add a complementary portfolio of new products including bellows sealed valves, control valves and lift plug valves. The acquisition will also allow Curtiss-Wright to offer Phonix better access to the North American market, whilst the target will provide the US group with improved customer relationships in Europe which it has long sought.
